Olga Stefatou is a visual artist, photography practitioner, mentor, curator, and collections consultant based in Athens, Greece.
She is currently working on her first photography book, Born in Gaza, in collaboration with her Gazan student Yousef Shurrab, to be published by Four Eyes Editions (Paris). She is also developing her first short film, As If I Had You Next To Me, a creative documentary co-directed with Despina Ladi, produced by Empty Square and funded by the Greek Film Institute.
Olga’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions and art spaces including the Aga Khan Museum (Canada), Doha Fire Station Art Space (Qatar), MOMus Museum of Contemporary Art and the Benaki Museum (Greece), Los Angeles Month of Photography, Head On Photo Festival (Australia), Les Boutographies and Negpos Gallery (France), Synthesis Gallery (Bulgaria), and Photon Gallery (Slovenia). In 2024, her work A Pair of Brand New Eyes was nominated for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award.
Alongside her artistic practice, she has extensive experience in multimedia journalism and has collaborated with international media such as Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, The Economist, NBC News, and Vanity Fair. Her documentary work includes the award-winning multimedia project The Prism (2011) and the Solar Impulse mission (2015), the first round-the-world flight powered entirely by solar energy. In 2021, she was selected to photograph the Dior Cruise 2022 collection alongside nine other Greek female artists.
Her consultancy work includes collaborations with Qatar Museums for the Tasweer Photo Festival and its permanent photography collection (2018–2020). From 2014 to 2022, she served as Creative Director of the Saristra Festival arts program on Cephalonia Island, Greece. She has also served as a juror for photography competitions, most recently Athens Photo World and Women’s Photo Festival.
She studied photography at the University of West Attica and holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Bolton (2012), undertaken in Beijing, China. She is currently a lecturer at AKTO Art & Design College, Athens.
Her creative space, atelier délos, based in Athens, functions as a hub for artistic exchange, fostering collaboration and community around photography and audiovisual arts.
